8+ Band Sample Answer
Well, I believe learning history is extremely important because it helps us understand our culture, heritage and traditions. When it comes to someone who has a genuine passion for history, the first person who comes to my mind is my history teacher, Mr. Aman.
I came to know him last year when he joined my school as a new history teacher. At first, I thought he would teach history mainly from textbooks, but I soon realised that he was genuinely passionate about the subject.
What I really admire is the way he learns history. He reads different kinds of books, including biographies and reference books. He also watches documentaries and researches important historical events in his free time. So, he is always trying to expand his knowledge.
The main reason he loves history is that he sees it as a window into the past. He believes that history helps us understand how people lived, what they achieved and what mistakes they made. He often says that we can learn valuable lessons from previous generations.
Moreover, he makes history interesting for his students. Instead of simply asking us to memorise dates, he tells us interesting stories, shows us pictures and connects historical events with the present. Because of this, even students who used to find history boring have started taking an interest in the subject.
As for my feelings towards him, I have a great deal of respect and admiration for him. I really appreciate his dedication and thirst for knowledge. In fact, he has changed my perspective on history and showed me that learning about the past can be fascinating and meaningful.

IELTS Speaking Part 3: History Questions and Answers
Q1. Besides historical events, what else is important when learning history?
When studying history, it is not just major events that matter. Understanding how people lived in the past is equally important. We can learn about their lifestyle, art and architecture, traditions, customs and even the languages they used. This helps us understand how society has changed over time.
Q2. Do you think people should learn ancient history before learning modern history?
In my opinion, ancient history can help us understand the roots of present-day society and problems. It also allows us to learn from the mistakes of the past and take pride in our heritage. However, modern history is more closely connected to our present lives, so I believe both are important.
Q3. Is it important to learn how people in the past lived their lives?
Definitely. I think it is important because it gives us an insight into how people lived, survived and developed different skills in the past. We can also learn about their inventions, technology, art and other achievements, which helps us understand how society gradually evolved.
Q4. How do children learn history before they attend school?
Children can learn about history from their families and the traditions and customs followed at home and in their community. They can also listen to stories told by their grandparents, visit historical or religious places and celebrate traditional festivals. These experiences help them understand their culture and heritage before they start school.
Q5. At what age do you think people should begin to learn history?
I don't think age should be a barrier to learning history because people can learn about the past at any stage of life. However, I believe it is better to introduce children to history at an early age. This can gradually develop their interest in their culture, heritage and the past.
Q6. Do you think children should begin learning history from an early age?
Certainly. I think children should start learning history at a young age because they tend to pick things up more easily at that stage. It can also help them develop an interest in the past and learn more about their culture, traditions and heritage.
