Sample Answer
Being a hodophile, I have had the opportunity to visit quite a few beautiful places. Here, I'd like to talk about Dal Lake, a breathtaking natural place I visited in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
I went there with my school friends when I was in 12th standard. Our school had organised a four-to-five-day trip to Kashmir, and Dal Lake was one of the main attractions. The main reason for visiting was to explore the natural beauty of Kashmir and spend some quality time with my friends before we all went our separate ways for college.
What impressed me the most about Dal Lake was its breathtaking beauty. It is surrounded by the majestic Himalayan mountains, and the calm water beautifully reflects the surrounding scenery. There are also colourful houseboats and traditional Shikaras floating on the lake, which make the whole place look absolutely magical.
We went on a Shikara ride for about an hour, and it was incredibly peaceful. The fresh air, cool breeze and stunning views helped me unwind and completely forget about the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I also clicked plenty of pictures, and I still have them on my phone.
To be honest, Dal Lake left a lasting impression on me. Even though many years have passed, I can still remember those moments clearly. Whenever I feel stressed, I look at those pictures and instantly feel relaxed.
Overall, it was one of the most memorable trips of my life. I would love to go back there with my family because I believe a place this beautiful is worth visiting again and again.

IELTS Speaking Follow-up Questions
1. Do you think people who live near natural places are more likely to protect them?
Yes, definitely. People who live close to nature are more likely to understand its value and importance. For example, people living near Dal Lake may depend on it for their livelihood through Shikara rides and houseboats. So, they are more likely to keep it clean and protect it from pollution because their income depends on it.
2. Do you think it is necessary to include natural spaces in a city?
Yes, absolutely. In cities like Ludhiana, life can be quite busy and polluted, so parks, trees and gardens provide a peaceful escape. They give people a place to exercise, relax and spend quality time with family and friends. Without green spaces, city life can become stressful and less enjoyable. For example, places like Sukhna Lake and the Rose Garden make Chandigarh more attractive and liveable.
3. Are there any natural attractions that are great to visit?
Yes, definitely. India has plenty of beautiful natural attractions, from the mountains of Shimla, Manali and Kashmir to the beaches of Goa and Kerala. These places are great for taking a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. They help people unwind, enjoy fresh air and appreciate the beauty of nature.
